EVIDENT’s consortium has been set up to consist of partners from all related areas in a well balanced way. EVIDENT partners are geographically spread over 5 European countries, characterised by different cultures and fiscal situations, which range from Ireland to the Cyprus, Greece and Sweden, all of them striving towards enhancing the competitiveness of their enterprises. PPC participates in EVIDENT by providing anonymised customer data to assist the socioeconomic studies and behavioural analytics, aiming to extract new policies and recommendations for policymakers and stakeholders.

The Centre for Innovative HumanSystems (CIHS), located within the School of Psychology, brings together a multidisciplinary capability in understanding human behaviour, attitudes and stakeholder engagement. Behavioural Science, research and experimental design has been central to their practice. TCD will support EVIDENT through policy implementation and pilot design. CIHS’ research efforts have provided significant insights into the complex dynamics of organisational performance, focusing on the interplay between technology, people, knowledge and impact.

JRC draws on over 60+ years of scientific experience and continually builds its expertise in knowledge production and knowledge management while also hosting specialist laboratories and unique research facilities and is home to thousands of scientists.

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) is one of the largest research centres in Greece. It was founded in 2000 and is located in Thessaloniki. Its mission is to promote the triplet Research – Development – Innovation by conducting high quality research and developing innovative products and services while building strong partnerships with industry and strategic collaborations with academia. CERTH is one of the leading Institutions of Greece in the fields of Informatics, Telematics and Telecommunications, with long experience in numerous European and national R&D projects. For the last 10 years, the publication record of CERTH includes more than 330 scientific publications in international journals, more than 780 publications in conferences and 100 books and book chapters. CERTH has a staff of approximately 360 people (including senior researchers, research assistants and associates and Postdoctoral Research Fellows).

Checkwatt is developing marketing solutions that helps Swedish households and companies become smarter and more sustainable in their energy usage. Checkwatt first service EnergyInBalance was introduced in 2013 with the vision of achieving a balance between energy usage and production. It has since been expanded with many new features out of which solar PV system performance monitoring is a large share. More than 4500 PV are connected, sending data in near real-time. Checkwatt’s virtual power plant brings distributed energy storage online to provide ancillary services to the electrical grid. Currently monitors solar production and decides if it is most favourable to charge battery, sell energy to the grid or use the energy in the house. Checkwatt Energy Control Panel offers a monitoring solution for retailers, real estate and installation companies. Checkwatt was originally created as a spin-off based on results from several EU projects in FP7.

External Advisory Board

The external advisory board consists of members with different backgrounds. This background diversity will enable the EVIDENT consortium to receive constructive  feedback and valuable remarks on the design of the econometric models and better define the processes for assessing the consumers’ behaviour and the design and implementation of the EVIDENT use cases.

Georgios is working on issues of household, personal and behavioural finance. He was previously a reader in accounting and finance at the University of Glasgow, a senior lecturer and a lecturer in economics at the University of Stirling and a lecturer in business economics and finance at the University of Essex. His research has been featured in outlets such as the Journal of Financial Economics, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Industrial Relations: A Journal of Economy and Society, inter alia.He has served as a consultant to the World Bank in multiple occasions and is a Logo of Poets & Quants Best 40 under 40 professorsprincipal investigator for the collaborative EU-funded Horizon 2020 project “PROFIT: PROmoting FInancial awareness and sTability”.

Stella Tsani is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Ioannina, Greece. She holds a PhD in Economics and Business from the University of Reading, UK. She has more than 10 years of professional experience with multi-sectoral networks across the knowledge triangle.Stella has participated in more than 30 research projects funded by national and international bodies (European Commission FP7 & Horizon 2020, EU Directorates, National Bank of Greece, World Bank, Ministry of the Environment of Cyprus, etc). Her work includes public economics and policy assessment, natural resources with focus on renewables, hydrocarbons and water, Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus, sustainable development, institutions, labour markets, technology innovation, economy energy and environmental modelling and scenario analysis, micro- and macro- economics.She has consulted nationally and internationally in sustainable development, energy, environment and public policy issues. Her publications appear in peer reviewed journals (Economics letters, Energy Economics, Economic Systems, Science of the Total Environment, Resources Policy, etc.), in edited volumes and in the media.

Michael Price is a Professor of Economics, a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Research Associate at the Environmental and Resources Department at RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research.An internationally recognised expert in behavioural economics and the use of field experiments, Michael’s research focuses on the design of policies based on behavioral insights and the use of field experiments to evaluate whether and why policies may or may not work. Michael has written on a variety of topics such as charitable giving, energy and water conservation, obesity and food choice, stress and economic decision-making, discrimination, and collusion. His work has appeared in a number of leading economic journals including The Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Review, Review of Economics and Statistics, Experimental Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Econometrics, International Economic Review, and Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Michael’s research has been funded by the John Templeton Foundation and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

He is currently a professor with the Shenzhen Institute for Advanced Study, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Shenzhen. His research interests include deep learning for the Internet of Things and edge computing.

Dámaris is a PhD in Experimental Physics from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and an Extractive Metallurgist from Universidad Atacama, Chile. She has also studies in Materials Science, Translation of Research and Entrepreneurship.She is currently in a career break since 2021, acting as Visiting Research Fellow and Lecturer for Trinity College Dublin, in areas related to Energy and Sustainability.Based in the School of Chemistry in Trinity College Dublin she does and promotes research in technological and socio-technical areas, to bring about solutions aimed to a more sustainable use of mineral resources. On the technical side, her research relates to nanoscience, high-end advanced microscopy and magneto-electrometallurgy, which have translated to Upscaling Projects aimed to adapt new technologies to the mining industry. On the socio-technical side, the measurement of impact in complex systems, applied to the raw materials sector, is one of the main drivers of this area of her research. Her activities in TCD have included designing and implementing strategies for integration of the Knowledge Triangle, including upscaling technologies, internationalization and research-driven industry-inspired and socially-integrated postgraduate education. She has been awarded several funding grants, from Science Foundation Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and industry, to carry out three types of activities: frontier scientific research, development of Postgraduate Programs and implementation of technological and socio-technical innovations in the raw materials area. She has raised over 3 million euro in projects directly led by her and contributed as collaborator to raise further 2 million euro in projects connecting Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.Between 2012 and 2014 she led the Irish Raw Materials Strategy, which contributed to integration of Irish institutions in a number of key raw materials activities throughout Europe and Latin America, such as the EIP Raw Materials, EIT Raw Materials KIC and ERAMIN. She has been invited to talk about sustainability issues in mining at conferences and seminars in Latin America, such as IMPC 2014 and CEST+I 2015. Since 2015 she has led co-participatory activities where wide stakeholders including civil society, industry, policy-makers and international bodies have agreed on diagnostics and co-created sustainability roadmaps that also align with Sustainable Development Goals, Paris Climate Agreement, Clean Planet directive and Europe’s Green Deal. She has been member of the Executive Committee of the European Technology Platform in Sustainable Mineral Resources and collaborates with JRC and EIT Climate on application of visual methods for development of socio-technical solutions to challenges related to regional development, circular economy and sustainable management of natural resources.
