Checkwatt is developing marketing solutions that helps Swedish households and companies become smarter and more sustainable in their energy usage. Checkwatt first service EnergyInBalance was introduced in 2013 with the vision of achieving a balance between energy usage and production. It has since been expanded with many new features out of which solar PV system performance monitoring is a large share. More than 4500 PV are connected, sending data in near real-time. This is Checkwatt's  virtual power plant, bringing distributed energy storage online to provide ancillary services to the electrical grid. Currently monitors solar production and decides if it is most favourable to charge battery, sell energy to the grid or use the energy in the house. The Checkwatt Energy Control Panel offers a higher level monitoring solution for retailers, real estate companies and installation and service companies. Checkwatt develops both hardware such as communication modules and gateways and analytics software solutions as well as GUIs for websites and mobile phone apps. CheckWatt is certified for communication in the EDIEL-system for communication between actors on the electricity market in the Nordic countries. Checkwatt was originally created as a spin-off based on results from several EU projects in FP7 and ECSEL.
